Long Beach’s medical community can boast of its highly recognized staff as Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s Hospital announced that 70 of its physicians have been recognized among the best in their fields by the 2013 Southern California Super Doctors report.
The annual report–which recognized over 40 Long Beach physicians last year–recognizes the top five percent of some 30,000 active physicians throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County area.
The reviewing process is mainly conducted through peer review processing–“If you need medical care, which doctor would you choose?” is proposed to fellow physicians–as well as professional achievement evaluation and the organization’s “blue ribbon panel review” process, in which a high-scoring nominee is asked to sit on a panel and review fellow nominees in his/her area of focus.
“We are very proud that many of our physicians recognized have made this list year after year,” says Sue Melvin, D.O., chief medical officer, Long Beach Memorial. “Not only are our physicians exceedingly dedicated to our patients, their families and the community they serve by constantly evolving and improving the advancement of clinical care, but they also provide a ‘personal touch’ not habitually seen at large, acute care hospitals. I hold the deepest respect for our physicians.”
