Mid-morning on October 29, 72-year-old Bong Kim was fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle after attempting to cross Alamitos Ave. in his wheelchair.

The collision occurred around 6:45AM near the intersection of Alamitos and Orange avenues, where Kim had apparently tried to cross Alamitos Ave. by entering the roadway via a driveway.

After the victim was struck, the driver immediately called the Long Beach Police Department and tended to the victim until paramedics arrived. When authorities appeared, Kim was lying in one of the northbound lanes of Alamitos Ave. before he was transported to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

As of now, no charges are pending.
