A man was killed Friday morning after he was thrown from his motorcycle and hit by a truck on the freeway in Long Beach, according to authorities.

Authorities identified the victim Saturday as 25-year old Hugo Gonzalez Martinez, of Long Beach.

The California Highway Patrol said Martinez lost control of his 2007 Kawasaki while traveling in the No. 4 lane eastbound on the 91 Freeway west of Atlantic Avenue at about 9:05 a.m.

After losing control, he was ejected from his motorcycle and rolled into the No. 3 lane where a big rig collided with him, killing him, the CHP said. The driver of the truck was unharmed in the collision.

Authorities said they do not know how Martinez lost control of his vehicle or how fast he was driving. The investigation is still ongoing.
