A motorcyclist traveling on the 91 Freeway was killed in a crash this morning in the Cerritos area, according to California Highway Patrol.

At about 5:45 a.m. Friday, the motorcyclist was riding in the eastbound carpool lane when a car in front of him, traveling in the No. 1 lane, swerved into the carpool lane, CHP Lt. Chris Ceaser said.

Ceaser said the man was thrown from his bike into the westbound lanes of traffic where he was eventually hit by another vehicle in the carpool lane. Authorities say he died at the scene.

CHP officials said they do not suspect drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash and added that all parties involved in the crash were cooperative and stayed on the scene.

Authorities could not provide the identity or age of the victim, but they believe the man was a resident of Long Beach, Ceaser said.
