As I submit this recent post I feel compelled to direct my comments to the outstanding effort demonstrated by our firefighters in bringing the worst fire inferno in our State’s history finally under control.  These brave men and women weren’t asked to risk their lives, they just did what their commitment to their profession drives them to accomplish.  They’re real professionals that didn’t miss a step when the calls came to put on their gear and equipment and head out into an unforeseen territory for the sake of others. Just ask a firefighter next time you see one if they like their job, and you’ll get the same positive response over and over again.

I’m especially proud of the men and women that our city committed to fighting the recent fires.  As it turns out, these first responders made our city proud once again and helped to validate how valuable and important a first class fire department is to a city of our size.

I can tell you first hand how grateful our entire family is to the outstanding effort and commitment of all these great individuals in getting this catastrophe under control.  Because of these brave men and women, we have and will continue to still have our home in Lake Arrowhead right in the heart of the Grass Valley fire area.  Ours and our neighbor’s home were some of the few that were spared just a few yards from the burning forest at Grass Valley Lake.

We’re not allowed to go up there yet to assess the fire’s impact in our general area; however, we were informed this Friday morning that our “old friend” made it through and we’ll be forever grateful to all those wonderful folks that risked their lives on our behalf.   All we can say is a heartfelt thank you.
