Dear Councilwoman Gabelich:
Wow what a great time my wife, kids and I had at the Bixby Knolls Car Show and Dragster Expo on Saturday! With plenty of chores and errands to do on Saturday the kids kept asking when we could go to the Car Show, when we heard the first firing up of the dragsters around 3:30 we knew it was time to walk over.
As a Bixby Knolls resident I was proud to see “my town” showcased so well with the vintage hot rods and other cars gleaming along Atlantic Avenue. As always the Bixby Knolls Business Association did a great job as did all the volunteers ensuring the safety of the visitors, the selection and quality of vendors and getting the owners to proudly display their cars and dragsters.
Like many I am often guilty of just seeing or commenting on the ills or misdoings, real or perceived, of government and those in public office. Events such as the Car Show and Dragster Expo, or the Snow in Bixby Knolls or other street fair events in “my town” serve a great purpose of reminding me what is most important. My neighborhood, it residents and businesses, welcoming those from other parts of town and the area to our town, our section of Southern California to enjoy what we get to experience every day. That my family could take a short walk and see friends and neighbors and strangers having a great experience was terrific.
Thank you for your efforts in putting together the Bixby Knolls Car Show and Dragster Expo and congratulations on its success. Thank you as well for your efforts on behalf of the residents of Bixby Knolls and the Eighth District, I may not always agree with the positions you may take on issues or approach to solutions, but I know that you are doing what you think is best for my family and the thousands of other families who are your constituents.
See you next year at the 3rd Annual Car Show and Dragster Expo!
