UPDATE | A Cal State Long Beach student who was feared missing had actually been taken to a medical facility for a mental evaluation, authorities said today.

On Jan. 22, Long Beach police sent out a bulletin asking for help finding Abiel Tseggi, 21, who was “confused, disoriented and was unsure how he arrived” in Dana Point when a homeless services officer from the city spoke to him on Jan. 16.

“The Homeless Service Officer was told by Tseggi that he was living in a hotel, however, when an attempt was made to contact him on January 17th, he had left without taking any of his belongings,” police said at the time.

Five days after sending out the bulletin, Long Beach police learned that that CHP had been in contact with Tseggi on Jan. 17 in Orange County. The agency had him taken to a medical facility for a mental evaluation, police said. Tseggi was reported missing to the LBPD some time after that, and the department issued the bulletin.

CSULB police said Tseggi is currently a student at the university. “He is believed to be homeless and has not been attending classes,” the department said in a tweet.
