Yes, it actually happened. A Long Beach landmark said goodbye for good on Saturday when Acres of Books closed its doors for the last time. The property belongs to the Redevelopment Agency now, and is part of a Broadway Block renovation plan. There has been no word yet as to what will replace Acres or the other surrounding stores that were closed.
The Press-Telegram‘s John Canalis send Acres off with a heartfelt farewell in yesterday’s paper, and the Contra-Costa Times picked up Kelly Puente’s article about the final day of business – and the last customer ever, who picked up four books for $2.09!
