A Long Beach Airport maintenance employee who worked in public-facing areas has tested positive for COVID-19, officials said today.

The employee is now in isolation in stable condition and is recovering at home. The city reports cases involving employees who have daily, significant interactions with community members.

Officials also reported no new deaths in the city for the first time in about 10 days and no new hospitalizations. They did report 27 new positive cases of COVID-19, however.

The total number of cases in the city—including those who have now recovered—is 406, up from 379. Officials have said that cases will continue to rise as more testing becomes available. Of the 406 cases, 49 people are hospitalized.

On Wednesday, officials announced the first positive case of a person experiencing homelessness. He had been living in his vehicle and isn’t believed to have had any recent interaction with other homeless people, officials said.

Of the total number of cases, 95 cases were associated with six long-term care facilities in the city.
