4:45pm | An art contest and community forum will be held on Thursday evening, featuring work from several local artists and the presentation of a UCLA research film.

The event, entitled For Our Community, will address local health issues, namely the dangers of methamphetamines. Much of the artwork on display will deal with meth-related issues and its effect on the community.

The event is hosted by the South Bay and Long Beach Methamphetamine Taskforce and will feature the film Windows To Recovery, which is part of the UCLA series Meth Inside Out.

Several other local organizations such as the C.A.R.E. Program of Long Beach will be involved in the event, which aims to addressed community-based needs related to methamphetamines and other health problems.

The event begins at 5:00pm in the Health Enhancement Building at 1055 Linden Avenue. Visit careprogram.org for more information.
