11:01am | On Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a male victim of an assault that had occurred two days prior was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

On Monday, September 12, 2011, at approximately 11:15 pm, a Long Beach police officer was traveling on the northbound 710 Freeway when he observed a male body lying in the number one lane of northbound traffic, just north of the 3rd Street on-ramp. The officer immediately stopped to render aid to the victim and called for paramedics.  The victim, who had sustained trauma to his body, was transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition. 

The subsequent investigation revealed that the male subject, identified as 24-year-old Danny Logan of Long Beach, had been the victim of an assault, and the crime scene was located on the bicycle path, below the 6th Street off-ramp of the southbound 710 Freeway.

A motive for the assault is unknown and the investigation remains ongoing.  The official cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
