Authorities are investigating after the body of a man was found at the Port of Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
A U.S. Coast Guard vessel reported seeing a body floating in the water near Angels Gate Lighthouse in San Pedro, said Phillip Sanfield, a spokesperson with the Port of Los Angeles.
A Los Angeles Port Police patrol boat responded at around 4:30 p.m. to the area and pulled the body out of the water, Sanfield said.
Officials said Wednesday that the man was identified as 42-year-old Norwalk resident Edgardo Alfonso Reyes.
It’s unclear how he ended up in the water, or what the cause of death was, however, Sanfield said there is no indication of foul play at this time.
A search of the water and land in the surrounding area turned up no evidence or witnesses, Sanfield added.
