The Best Buy at Marina Pacifica shopping center will be closing its doors Oct. 6, the electronics retailer announced this week.

“We have decided to not renew the lease of our Long Beach store,” said Best Buy spokesperson Boua Xiong. “After careful consideration, we found that our customers were choosing to shop at our larger nearby stores.”

It was not clear whether any employees would be laid off, or what kind of severance packages might be offered.

Best Buy is one of the anchor retailers at Marina Pacifica near Second Street and Pacific Coast Highway, along with Nordstrom Rack, AMC Theater and Ralphs grocery store.

News of the closure was first reported by the Long Beach Business Journal.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
