3:00pm | After a competitive national nomination period, Bixby Elementary became the only school from Long Beach that was successfully nominated for the Clorox “Power a Bright Future” $50,000 grant. More than 1,500 other schools were nominated nationwide.
Between October 24 and December 9, Bixby Elementary is asking community members to vote for Bixby daily, in two different ways:
- Once each day via SMS/Text: Text the code CLOROX7532 to 44144
- Once each day directly through www.VoteForBixby.com or www.PowerABrightFuture.com
The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $50,000 grand‐prize grant, and the next top vote‐getters in the Play, Create and Explore categories respectively will each be awarded a $25,000 grant. Clorox’s judging panel will select one additional lucky school to win a $25,000 judge’s choice grant.
According to a press release, the $50,000 will be used to replace out‐of‐date technology at Bixby Elementary.
