Officials and residents in North Long Beach today celebrated the demolition of a space that had been vacant for 15 years and was formerly a Roberts Department Store. The space will become a Marshall’s, located at 4450 Atlantic Avenue in the Bixby Knolls Shopping Center.
The space had been a melancholy symbol of the lack of development in the area as it sat unused for years. Today, past and present Councilmembers joined members of the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) and Bixby Knolls Business Improvement Association to erase the memory. The 52,000-sq. foot property has the potential to signify a resurgence of development in the area.
