Long Beach firefighters quickly put out a blaze inside the detached garage of a West Long Beach home but not before it caused the roof to partially collapse.

The fire, near Baltic Avenue and 33rd Street, was put out in approximately 15 minutes and didn’t threaten any other structures in the area, fire department spokesman Matt Dobberpuhl said.

It’s unclear if anyone was inside when the blaze started, but no one was injured during the incident, he said.

A neighbor said someone lives in the garage, but authorities couldn’t immediately confirm that. The area in and around the garage was cluttered with furniture and other items strewn about.

Officials do not yet have an estimate of how much damage the fire caused and are still investigating, according to Dobberpuhl.
