A Metro Blue Line train and a car collided today in Long Beach, resulting in some injuries and disrupting Metro service during the morning commute.

The crash occurred about 7:05AM at Long Beach Boulevard and 14th Street, said Ramon Montenegro of the Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau. Several passengers on the train were being examined at the scene after complaining of pain and the driver of the car was being transported for hospital treatment, he said.

Service was disrupted between Anaheim Station and Downtown Long Beach with most riders shifting onto bus route 51, which parallels the Blue Line and connects Willow Station to Downtown. By 8:30, normal service had been resumed with residual delays. The circumstances of the accident were under investigation.
