The Board of Supervisors renewed rewards on Tuesday meant to help solve the deaths of a 19-year-old man shot to death in Long Beach and a sandwich shop owner gunned down during a robbery in San Dimas.
Supervisor Don Knabe asked to extend a $10,000 reward—set to expire Thursday—in the March 28, 2013 death of Sidney Wallace Jr., who was shot in an apartment complex parking lot on the 200 block of East Hill Street.
A 49-year-old man and Wallace’s cousin, 37, were also shot, but survived.
At least two shooters who fired on Wallace are being sought by police.
Authorities said Wallace was not a gang member.
So far, no one has come forward with a description of the gunmen, though several witnesses reported hearing shots.
Anyone with information was asked to call Long Beach police Detectives Greg Krabbe or Mark McGuire at 562.570.7244.
Callers can also provide information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 800.222.TIPS (8477).
Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended extending a $20,000 reward—set to expire Sunday—in the June 2 fatal shooting of Pravin Raojibhai Patel, the owner of a Quiznos sandwich shop at 1034 West Arrow Highway.
Patel, 62, gave the gunman a bag of cash from the register and then shot by the suspect during a struggle outside the store.
The gunman was described as a tall, thin Hispanic man in his mid-20s, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds and wearing a dark T-shirt, plaid shorts and a dark baseball hat.
Those with information can call sheriff’s homicide Detective Margarita Barron at 323.890.5500.
Both rewards will now be available for at least the next 90 days.
