Long Beach police said they do not suspect foul play in the death of a person found this morning in North Long Beach.

Few details were immediately available, but police said officers arrived at a call about a body in the 2300 block of South Street at about 8:04 a.m. That area is between Cherry Avenue and Paramount Boulevard.

The Long Beach Fire Department was on the scene before officers arrived and pronounced the individual dead at the scene, LBPD spokesperson Richard Mejia said.

Coroner’s officials took away the body at the scene and will determine a cause of death.

The deceased person’s identity was not immediately available, and police did not reveal their age or gender. The investigation is ongoing.
