Two men who police say are responsible for a string of burglaries and multiple robberies across the Long Beach area this year have been arrested, according to authorities.

Long Beach residents Christopher Hartgraves, 22, and Christopher Lang, 35, were taken into custody this month on suspicion of burglary and robbery, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police say Hartgraves is believed to be responsible for at least seven burglaries and two robberies in the Long Beach area dating back to early February. Lang, meanwhile, is believed to have participated in two recent robberies, according to authorities.

The earliest burglary allegedly tied to Hartgraves took place in the 2100 block of East Fourth Street on Feb. 3, according to police. He then went on to commit four more burglaries in February, two in May and one in June, police said.

“During each of the burglary incidents, a suspect broke into the business through the front door and stole cash and/or electronic devices,” police said in a statement Thursday.

Then, on June 23, Hartgraves and Lang entered two business that were open at the time and tried to take merchandise without paying, police said.

When attempting to leave the businesses without paying for the merchandise, employees attempted to stop them,” the LBPD said. “Each incident resulted in a struggle for the loss, with the suspects taking the merchandise without paying for it.”

Detectives investigating the series of burglaries were eventually able to identify Hartgraves as a suspect using video surveillance footage, police said.

He’s since been charged by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office with seven counts of commercial burglaries and two counts of robbery, police said. He remains jailed in lieu of $210,000, inmate records show.

Lang, who was taken into custody Wednesday by state parole officers, remains jailed in lieu of no bail, inmate records show.

Detectives will present the case against him to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later this week for filing consideration, police said.

Burglary detectives are actively pursuing all leads and investigating whether more incidents are possibly related, police said.
