Club V20

9:15am | One of Long Beach’s largest and most popular nightclubs has closed down as V20: The Venue could not reach a new agreement to remain open at The Pike shopping center in downtown Rainbow Harbor, the Press-Telegram reports today.

V20 benefited from a large space near the ocean that was attractive to downtown Long Beach partygoers and established a positive reputation for its atmosphere, drinks and dancing. But after long negotiations and the effects of the economy, V20 will close its doors and take about 60 jobs with it.

The nightclub is the third large business to close doors at the Pike shopping center in recent months. Gameworks – which held the largest space in the entire shopping center – closed when its corporate office decided to close half of all national locations, and Long Beach Clothing Company was also hit hard by the recession and could not renegotiate a deal to remain at the Pike.

The Gameworks location has been filled by a similar gaming and dining business called the Kitchen Den Bar, which is run by the same people who managed Gameworks. The KDB will open in the next few months.
