10:45am | A golf tournament today to benefit people afflicted with mental illness is drawing growing Long Beach community and regional support.
The tournament, which takes place at Recreation Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is the inaugural golf tournament designed to raise money for the R.O.A.D.S. Foundation. The R.O.A.D.S. Foundation is a nonprofit organization supporting people afflicted with a chronic mental illness. This foundation is committed to finding and funding services and opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for individuals with mental illness and promote social integration and community participation.
Supporters of the tournament include La Traviata Restaurant, Pacific Hospital, Bank of America, City National Bank, Cleveland Golf, L.A. Dodgers, Illinois Tool Works, Farmers Insurance, Memorial Counseling Associates, Warrior Golf, Musical Theatre West and Galaxy Soccer.
