Fresh & Easy CEO Jim Keyes announced Friday in a YouTube video that about 50 Fresh & Easy stores, including 30 in Southern California, will be closing in the next few weeks. In the video, Keyes said the closures are an opportunity to take the money being spent in these locations to redirect it toward locations that are “better suited to the needs of the customers.”

According to ABC7, locations in Arcadia, Azusa, Buena Park, Camarillo, Chino Hills, Compton, Corona, Costa Mesa, Hermosa Beach, Jurupa Valley, La Habra, La Mirada, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Ontario, Oxnard, Pasadena, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Tujunga, Upland, Ventura, Walnut Park and Westminster are among the stores expected to close by April 3.

According to CBS Los Angeles, a list of the stores slated to close was released Sunday by a Fresh & Easy spokesperson. The only store set to close in Long Beach is the Spring St. and Palo Verde Ave. location, located at 6436 Spring St.

An employee at the Spring St. location mentioned the store will be closed by April 2, while the manager said she and her team were too rushed with mark-downs to comment on the situation.

Keyes said that some of the money will be used to build F3 stores, which are express versions of the chain, according to ABC7.
