06/8/15 at 3:21PM | The opening of H&M at 72 Aquarium Way in the new Pike Outlets is slated for June 18 at noon, the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) announced today.

According to a post on the DLBA’s website, H&M will be joined by Forever 21 and Nike as official retailers of “The New Pike,” in which $65 million is being invested in expansion and new retailers.

The Pike was announced as the site of the next H&M in October after a year of speculation regarding the new crop of stores.

“Long Beach was chosen as California is one of H&M’s strongest markets and the demand for more stores is always high there, especially in the south,” said H&M representative Patrick Shaner at the time.

The DLBA post said Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal credited the current Restoration Hardware expansion with spearheading redevelopment of The Pike by “taking a risk as the first major retail tenant” of The Pike.

The new space is expected to be completed later this year, according to the DLBA.
