12:05pm | Calling all quilters! Do you go nuts for quilts? Mark your calendars, because the International Quilt Festival is coming to Long Beach from July 29 to July 31.

The festival is expected to attract almost 18,000 quilt artists, lovers and collectors, according to its organizers. The festival features more than 500 quilts, textiles and wearable art.

One of the premier features of the event are the learning opportunities. More than 80 classes, lectures and special events are scheduled. Shopping can be done at nearly 300 booths for quilts, fabrics, books, notions, crafts, patterns, machines and sewing supplies.

Classes start on July 28, which is also a preview night. Class enrollees pay a separate fee to enroll for classes, which includes admission to the show, and are also charged a fee for each class they take, a Quilts Inc. spokesman said.

The event will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center, 300 E. Ocean Blvd. Tickets are $10, and $8 for seniors age 65 and up and students. Children age 10 and under are free. The $10 Preview Night Pass includes one free additional day, and a $25 full show pass includes the July 28 preview night.
