3:50pm | The Board of Directors of Leadership Long Beach (LLB) formally named Jeff Williams as its Executive Director at its October board meeting. Williams has served as interim Executive Director since December 2010 and will continue to manage the organization’s community development leadership programs, lead fundraising efforts, cultivate alumni activity and represent the organization at community events.

“Over the past year, Jeff has a done an outstanding job in focusing the organization on its core mission and programs,” said Tom Farrand, LLB board president and president of Farrand Research.   “The board has seen Jeff further the growth of alumni community engagement and program development to meet the changing needs of our alumni and the city.” 

After graduating from LLB in 2008, Williams has remained active in the organization, including serving on the executive board in 2009-10 before becoming full-time staff. Williams has a business finance degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, but his background is in education. He came to California in the mid-1990s as part of the Teach for America program, where he taught middle school for three years in South Central Los Angeles. He then worked for The New Teacher Project in Los Angeles developing career change professionals to teach in under- resourced schools. Williams is active in the community, working with the Youth Services Network and is also the founder and director of the Long Beach Mardi Gras.
