Downtown real estate firm Doma Properties this week released Limelight Long Beach 2.0, which the company is calling “the city’s most comprehensive online events calendar.”
The calendar, limelightlb.com, promotes events that are searchable by date, cost, category and keywords, and many of the scheduled events include photos, descriptions, Facebook integration, printable maps, driving directions and links. The service is posted on several publication websites, including the Long Beach Post.
“We’ve brought thousands of new residents to Long Beach,” Doma Properties principal Scott Hamilton, said in a statement. “And we’ve created Limelight to provide our residents and everyone else with unrivaled access to their community.”
Doma executives are hoping that with the launch of the new calendar, it will become resource for locals and “eventually become Long Beach’s one-stop event promotion resource.”
“Great events are happening in Long Beach every day and Limelight can capture them all in one place,” Ryan Smolar, the calendar’s project leader, said in a statement. “It’s free to use and it’s a great resource for the city. From one website, you can see a full range of events and discover new groups, neighborhoods and businesses.”
“Despite being the fifth largest city in California, Long Beach is sidelined by major publications in L.A and O.C.,” said Rachel Potucek, another calendar project leader. “So we’re excited to add our efforts to the great work of other local information sources. Anyone hosting an event can use Limelight for help writing press releases, booking advertisements and event listings in hundreds of Southern California publications. Many events are hosted by business owners and community groups who aren’t professional event promoters, and we think we can help them cover the basics without reinventing the wheel.”
Limelight launched two years ago, and since it has listed over 15,000 events across over 1,000 venues, according to Smolar.
