7:30am | Most businesses would love a little free ink, but starting today Long Beach Clothing Co. wants to give away some free ink.
Fans of Long Beach and tattoos can enter to win a custom tattoo, then on Wednesday the seller of branded clothing will select one person that best describes why they deserve a custom Long Beach-themed tattoo.
The winner will submit their desired artwork to tattoo artist Thomas Martinez from 310 Tattoo, and Martinez will prepare and tattoo the winner inside Long Beach Clothing Co. at 7 p.m. on Friday. The winner will choose the art, size and placement of the tattoo. Visitors are encouraged to “stop by and watch the tattoo process live at 4218 Atlantic Ave. in Long Beach.
Entries will be judged by a Long Beach Clothing Co. staff. Click here to see the rules. Long Beach Clothing Co. was launched in 2003 in the Pike at Rainbow Harbor in downtown Long Beach by Jay Tilles, also know as Lightning, who for many years served as producer of KROQ’s Kevin and Bean morning radio show. The store closed after a seven year run at the Pike, and reopened at its new location last December.
Soon after its original opening, employees began photographing customers with Long Beach-related tattoos. “Seven years and 850 tattoos later, Long Beach Clothing Co. has not only amassed an impressive collection that can be seen inside the store, but a client-base whose loyalty to the City is more than just skin deep,” a statement from Long Beach Clothing Co. states.
