François Porte, the new general manager of the Long Beach Marriott Hotel.
9:30am | François Porte, a hotelier hailing from Las Vegas, has been named general manager of the recently renovated Long Beach Marriott Hotel.
Porte is responsible for a team of 200 workers and the hotel’s day-to-day operations.
Porte has more than 30 years of experience in hospitality, including work catering to heads of state in the U.S., Poland and the Middle East. He is also multi-lingual, speaking in French, English and Spanish.
Prior to Long Beach Marriott, Porte has worked in properties in locations like Palm Beach, Florida; Amman, Jordan; Warsaw, Poland; Amsterdam; Chicago; and the Bahamas. He was most-recently at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
For a quarter-century the Long Beach Marriott has been a visible establishment at the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Spring Street near Long Beach Airport. Early this year the hotel completed a $6 million renovation of its meeting facilities, grand ballroom, and fitness center and added a new outdoor courtyard.
Beside the hotel’s 20,000 square-feet of event space, the hotel’s additions slated for 2012 include Mr. R’s Grille, Garden Terrace Café, and Corrigan’s Sports Bar.
