10:45am | The Long Beach Playhouse is currently accepting applications to serve as its executive director, a position left open by the departure of Lauren Morris.

The Playhouse describes the executive director position as “requir[ing] a background in theater management, preferably in a community theater setting. [E]xperience in and capacity to lead, manage, motivate, train and collaborate with staff, board and volunteers is desired.” (Complete job listing here.)

Historically the Long Beach Playhouse, the city’s oldest theatre company, has staged farce and mainstream fare almost exclusively, but under new leadership over the last two seasons or so the Playhouse has expanded its aesthetic range to include productions such as Martin McDonagh’s grisly comedy The Lieutenant of Innishmore, as well as helping other theatre companies to stage works in the Playhouse’s Studio Theatre (that’s the upstairs one), such as with Alive Theatre’s upcoming production of Orson’s Shadow (opens January 20).

Applications for the executive director position will be accepted through February 10. Candidates are asked to “submit a cover letter specifying how your experience relates to the Executive Director role with Long Beach Playhouse. Please include your cover letter within the body of your email and attach your current resume as a PDF. Email to: [email protected].”
