9:51am | An upcoming public memorial service was announced on Tuesday for well-known economics expert Jack Kyser, who died last week.

The service is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2011 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

A private funeral service for Kyser is planned for immediate family only. Kyser had recently retired from the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation and joined the Southern California Association of Governments as chief economic advisor.

Kyser, a much sought after speaker on all things economy, was often quoted by the media. A Los Angeles Times story written right after his death states: “He was quoted or referenced in more than 1,300 Times articles since 1985, postulating about unemployment, logistics, construction, video games, aerospace, Hollywood, pornography and even wax museums.” And according to sources in that article, he fielded about 1,000 media calls a year, and his words appeared in publications from as far as Russia and the Philippines.

The event, which runs from 1:30pm-3:00pm, is in the Crystal Room in the Biltmore, 506 South Grand Ave. Parking is available at the hotel or at the public parking lot across the street at Pershing Square.
