UPDATE | Today, Nordstrom Rack announced specials and festivities for their Thursday, October 1 grand opening at Marina Pacifica in Long Beach, titled Rally at the Rack.

According to a release, the store will offer music, coffee, breakfast and treats to customers outside of the store at 8:00AM. Doors will open at 9:00AM.

The opening pre-party will also contain a raffle and gift card giveaway, where 30 $100 gift cards will be distributed to the lucky winners.

One raffle winner will also gain a $1,000 shopping spree through the store’s Rule the Rack sweepstakes, according to the release. That winner will be drawn from the raffle at 8:25AM.

Once the doors open, the first 1,000 customers will receive a complimentary tote bag.

The Marina Pacifica storefront is the chain’s 184th location. The store is set to remain open on weekdays from 10:00AM to 9:00PM, Saturdays from 10:00AM to 8:00PM and Sundays from 11:00AM to 7:00PM.

09/17/15 at 4:39PM | Nordstrom Rack announced it will open its new Long Beach location at the Marina Pacifica Mall on Thursday, October 1.

According to its website, the location will be 24,000 square feet, and will take the place where Loehmann’s was once located.

Nordstrom Rack previously had a 33,000-square foot location at City Place in Downtown Long Beach, but the store was closed when the lease expired in January of last year, after 11 years of business.

“We still hope to do business in Long Beach in the future, but with our lease set to expire and having opened three nearby locations in recent years, this is the right time to not renew our lease, close our store at that location and look to the future,” said Nordstrom Rack President Geevy Thomas in a June 2013 statement. “Our hope is that eventually we can find another great location where we can better serve our customers.”

Now, that new location is set for Marina Pacifica, located at 6272 East Pacific Coast Highway.

“We’re excited to bring a Nordstrom Rack to Marina Pacifica,” Thomas said in a January 2015 statement. “Since we closed our City Place Rack in 2014, we have been actively looking for another location in the Long Beach community and we are thrilled to have found a great opportunity so quickly. We believe this central retail area in Alamitos Bay is a good fit for us and we look forward to earning our customers’ business when we open next year.”
