Lori Ann Guzman

Previous Harbor Commission President Lori Ann Guzmán was re-elected Monday evening to serve a second term at the helm of the Board of Harbor Commissioners, which supervises the Port of Long Beach (POLB), the port announced today.

Her re-election was just one of three, as Lou Anne Bynum and Tracy Egoscue were re-elected to their roles as vice president and secretary, respectively.

The board votes on the leadership positions of commissioners every July.

Farrell Harrison is the current director of finance for the City of Huntington Beach and a resident of the Fifth District, according to the release.

“I look forward to continuing my work with the community, our customers, Harbor Department staff and the City of Long Beach,” Guzmán said. “I want to thank my fellow commissioners for putting their faith and confidence in me.”

Guzmán was appointed to the board by then-Mayor Bob Foster in 2013 and will continue her duties as president, which include chairing board meetings and representing the Port in the public sphere.

Guzmán is a former chief financial officer (CFO) for the City of Long Beach and, with her election, succeeded Doug Drummond. The city charter mandates the mayor of Long Beach appoint city residents to the Harbor Commission for a six-year term.

The Board of Harbor Commissioners oversees the Port of Long Beach and directs the CEO of the port. The CEO manages more than 500 people at the City of Long Beach Harbor Department in the development and promotion of the POLB.
