Cal State Long Beach’s (CSULB) Delta Lambda Phi fraternity will host its ninth annual Draglicious drag show fundraiser Friday night, with a portion of the proceeds going to the university’s LGBT Resource Center to help replace computers stolen a few months ago.

The event, themed “Drag Through the Ages,” will showcase the evolution of drag with students embodying everything from the roaring 20s to the bopping 80s, according to the fraternity’s Facebook page. Drag Queen diva Mia Farrow (stage name) is also scheduled to attend, said freshman biochemistry major Brandon Ha, who serves as the fraternity’s fellowship chairman and is in charge of planning activities. 

Attendees can get their tickets online for $11 or at the door for $13. The show will begin at 7:00PM on Friday, May 6 at the University Student Union Auditorium. The show is expected to last two to three hours with intermissions in between.

The LGBT Resource Center will receive some of the money to help cover the costs of replacing three Mac desktops, a loss of about $3,000, stolen from the center January 28, according to its director Alejandro Muro.

Muro said the event will help highlight the services the center has to offer.

“The fundraiser is important because it brings visibility and much-needed attention to the LGBT Resource Center,” Muro said. “Often times, students are unaware that we have a LGBT Resource Center at CSU Long Beach.”

The center also acts as a safe space and cultural melting pot for students who identify as LGBT, student organizers said.
