Various anti-Semitic messages were found on flyers in several printers throughout the Cal State Long Beach (CSULB) campus Friday, according to the university. A release issued Friday evening stated that similar incidents have occurred on other university campuses across the country throughout the day.
According to the school, the University Police Department (UPD) and the campus’ Information Technology Services department determined the source of the flyer, which was printed through various on-campus printers, was off-campus and continue to investigate the incident. They immediately took action to prevent the printing of additional flyers.
“This kind of publication is contemptible and has no place on our campus,” stated CSULB President Jane Close Conoley. “Civil discourse among our many ethnic, racial, religious, and political groups is a top priority of our campus. We will not tolerate calls for domination of one group over another. Our campus and our democracy are enriched by the diversity of our community.”
Officials emphasized that the CSULB network is secure and has not been affected.
This incident follows two unrelated incidents related to student safety, in which students flashed a knife or knives in CSULB classrooms.
