Police say charges are pending against 39 year-old Darrell Childs, the driver of a car involved in an early-morning crash Sunday in which his female passenger was killed. The accident occurred around 4:25AM March 10 when Childs’ 2012 Ford Fusion traveling southbound on Long Beach Blvd. veered onto the west parkway and struck a light pole, a fire hydrant and a traffic signal before coming to a stop at the intersection of Long Beach Blvd. and 56th St. 

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The passenger, identified as 46-year-old Teresa Davis of Long Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
