New Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna will lead a Towne Hall on Thursday evening to address the concerns and questions of the community.
Concerned community leaders, clergy, advocates and families have been invited to attend the event, hosted by the Long Beach Ministers Alliance, to express their worries, interests and ideas with Luna.
“It is our goal to celebrate the policies that are working and challenge the ones that are not,” said Gregory Sanders, Long Beach Ministers Alliance President. “We would like to hydrate parallel frequencies of conversation, commitment, transparency and accountability. Our conversation will include the state of current Long Beach Police and community relations, an introduction of the new command staff, current community/Police culture, climate and concerns, LBPD policies, practices and protocols, the state of policing in Long Beach, future strategies and proposed formulas for transparency. It is our goal that the public and Police leave with as many answers as possible, an immediate course of action where required, resources and a sense of community design partnership as social architectural counterparts.”
The conversation is open to the public and will take place at the Antioch Church of Long Beach, located at 1535 Gundry Avenue, at 7:00PM Thursday.
