A man wanted for allegedly killing two people shot and wounded a California Highway Patrol officer today and was himself wounded in a confrontation with authorities on a freeway transition road in Paramount.

The incident began about 8:30 a.m. on the transition road between the westbound 105 Freeway to the northbound 710 Freeway, which was closed so an investigation could be conducted, the CHP reported. Other details were not released by authorities.

According to Fox 11, the suspect was wanted in recent double homicide, and there was a standoff before the shots were fired. The officer suffered a graze wound to the head, Channel 11 reported.

The severity of the suspect’s wound was not immediately known.
