The Long Beach City Council chipped in $15,000 Tuesday night to help create a reward for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible for the Halloween-party shooting at a Long Beach home that left three dead and nine wounded.

A matching $15,000 reward was approved earlier Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, which brings the total reward money to $30,000.

The money was requested by the Long Beach Police Department, which believes the reward could help bring the responsible parties to justice. So far police have only a vague suspect description and say they don’t know the motive for the shooting.

The Oct. 29 shooting in the city’s Rose Park neighborhood occurred just before 11 p.m. at a Halloween-themed party where a number of guests had assembled for a work party. Three men, 25-year-old Maurice Poe Jr. of Long Beach, 35-year-old Melvin Williams II of Gardena and 28-year-old Ricardo Torres of Inglewood all died at the scene.

The LBPD has provided few updates in the weeks after the shooting. Authorities have said investigators are unsure of how many suspects they are looking for. However, partygoers described one man wearing dark-colored clothes wearing a mask jumping onto the back fence of the residence before opening fire while another masked man stood behind the fence.

The funding for the reward is expected to come out of the city’s general fund.
