North Long Beach will go to the dogs this weekend when Jackson Street Dog Park opens Saturday.

The city’s newest dog park will open in the Eighth District on the corner of East Jackson Street and Rose Avenue.

According to a statement from Eighth District Councilmember Al Austin, the park will be placed “on a vacant parcel of land that had been a source of blight and concern for the neighborhood for several years” and was constructed using one-time Eighth District infrastructure funds.

The park, located at 1432 Jackson Street, will have its grand opening on Saturday at 10:00AM. Councilmember Austin, Mayor Robert Garcia and members of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine are expected to be in attendance.
