Residents in parts of Signal Hill, Cal Heights and Bixby Knolls woke up Saturday morning to a power outage that started around 7:45 a.m.

A squirrel had caused an isolated transformer fire in the Southern California Edison yard at the corner of Spring Street and Cherry Avenue in Signal Hill, according to Signal Hill Police Department Sgt. Kelli Brown.

The outage is about 75 percent restored and work is expected to be complete by 9 a.m.
