The Consumer Federation of California today released a report grading members of the State Assembly and Senate based on their voting records, which they say reflects whether or not the official has been voting favorably for consumers. Click here to visit the website and see the report.

Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal (D) received a perfect 100-percent ranking, as did State Senators Alan Lowenthal (D) and the late Jenny Oropeza (D). Senator Rod Wright received a score of 54-percent.

“I think the common thread in all this is just giving people a fair shot at taking care of themselves and their families,” said Assemblymember Lowenthal, in a statement.

Democrats fared considerably better in the report, with several of them receiving perfect 100 scores while several Republicans scored a 0-percent. Politicians were handed either an “R” for Right or a “W” for Wrong on each of fourteen “key consumer rights bills” over the past year, including campaign finance reform, health care reform, mortgage modifications and several requirements for businesses.
