Long Beach city officials have a full day ahead of them today as they prepare for back-to-back-to-back meetings in City Hall chambers tonight, beginning with a budget workshop about the Main Library at 3:30pm. Last week’s community forum on the issue drew emotional responses from the crowd, and today’s study session will be sure to address some of the concerns raised in that forum. Public input will be heard by the Council.
At 5:00pm, the City Council’s regular weekly meeting will take place, but following the meeting, a budget hearing will be held from 7:00pm-8:30pm, concerning Fiscal Year 2009 Departmental Budget Proposals – basically a step-by-step rundown.
The Main Library discussion will begin with the fiscal year proposal and recommended action, followed by City Council deliberation. It is not clear whether or not the Council will make final decisions on the matter today. Deliberation will be followed by public input, and each speaker will be allowed no more than three minutes.
