On Saturday, December 1, Councilmember Patrick O’Donnell will host an informational forum on the Long Beach Breakwater.  The forum will focus on the status of the Federal reconnaissance Breakwater Study, for which the City Council recently approved appropriations.

“This is a great opportunity to provide an update on the study and the City’s efforts to move forward with the breakwater,” O’Donnell said.  “ I feel that the study will give us the necessary tools to help restore our shore, and I remain committed to improving our beaches and recreation”.  O’Donnell continued,” I’d like to invite all of our residents to participate in this important discussion.”

The forum will include an update from the City’s Legislative Affairs Department on the process and status of the Federal reconnaissance study.   The study, which was approved by the Council in 2005 but remained unfunded until July of 2007, would help determine the federal government’s interest in a full assessment of the breakwater’s reconfiguration.
