11:50am | Vice Mayor and Second District Councilmember Suja Lowenthal will be hosting a community forum to discuss the current draft Property-Based Improvement District (PBID) management plan on Thursday, January 12, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Main Library Auditorium (located in the downstairs foyer), 333 West Ocean Blvd.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide a face-to-face opportunity for property owners in the downtown to express their position to Dr. Lowenthal about the draft PBID management plan proposed by the Downtown Long Beach Associates.

According to a press release from Lowenthal’s office, “[t]he Downtown Long Beach Property-Based Business Improvement District (PBID) is a special benefit assessment district formed in 1998 and renewed in 2003 that conveys special benefits to the properties located within the district boundaries. Downtown property owners are now seeking to continue the PBID for an additional ten year term. As described in DLBA’s draft plan, it is proposed that the PBID will continue to provide funding for enhanced maintenance, public safety, beautification, marketing and economic development programs, above and beyond those provided by the City of Long Beach.”
