Ace was able to make the switch, in an effort to eliminate use of a dangerous cleaning agent called perchloroethylene (perc), thanks to a grant from South Coast Air Quality Management District which aims to reduce the harmful environmental effects traditional dry cleaning systems generate. Federal EPA data calls “perc” one of the top 10 most toxic air contaminants in the state.
“I’m proud to support businesses like Ace Cleaners in our continuing work to clean the air we all breathe,” Councilmember Reyes Uranga said in a recent release. “Together, businesses and we at the AQMD continue to make our neighborhoods safer places to live and work, as well as healthier places for our children to play.”
