11:34am |  The Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra announced Monday that the L.A. County Arts Commission has awarded it two $8,000 grants that will fund the chorale’s next two performance seasons.

The chorale was one of 184 arts organizations to receive funding through the commission’s Organizational Grant Program during this most recent grant cycle.

According to the county arts commission’s website, the program provides financial support via two-year grants to assist and strengthen nonprofit arts organizations to provide quality arts services to enrich the lives of Los Angeles County residents.

The 2011-12 season marks the chorale’s 23rd and is set to include a holiday concert and complete performance with full orchestra of Franz Joseph Haydn’s The Creation, according to information provided by the chorale.

The community-based chorus will be holding auditions for prospective new members throughout the month of August. Click here to access our previous coverage of the upcoming auditions to obtain more specific information.

The chorale features 40 to 50 amateur singers of all ages and backgrounds and is directed by Eliza Rubenstein.
