10:35am | Traffic backed up on the 710 Freeway yesterday when a 30-foot Edison crane rolled over and burst into flames when the fuel tank ruptured, destroying a guardrail and light pole near the 91 East ramp to the 710 South.

No one was injured as the driver of the crane escaped, and was treated and released on scene.

Firefighters arrived within minutes to extinguish the blaze, which had become a burning river of fuel that moved down the freeway ramp. The crane was fully engulfed in flames. Some firefighters arrived to supply extra water, while even more diverted the leaking fuel from entering a nearby storm drain.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
