Two men were wounded at Drake Park Thursday evening in what police believe to be a gang-related shooting, officials said.
Police headed to the park at about 6:45 p.m. for a call about shots fired, spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.
They found a man who had been shot in the lower body. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, according to Gallagher. Officers also found a man who had been injured in his upper body, but they don’t believe it was a gunshot wound, she said. He was treated and released at the scene by paramedics.
Police believe a suspect or suspects shot at the victims in the park and fled the scene. They said officers found bullet casings and evidence of a shooting there. The department has not released any suspect information, but they believe the shooting was gang-related, Gallagher said.
The LBPD defines gang-related crimes as any crime committed “for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with any criminal street gang.”
