A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Long Beach Sunday evening, and a suspect was taken into custody, authorities said today.

The Long Beach Police Department said the attack was reported about 5:45 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Pacific Avenue, which is the same block as Lincoln Park. They did not specify the exact location of the attack.

Officers found the teen with multiple upper-body stab wounds that were not considered life-threatening, police said. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital.

“Officers quickly located the male adult suspect as he attempted to flee the scene,” according to a police statement. “While being arrested, the suspect assaulted an officer, who did not sustain any injuries.”

Police said the suspect was identified as 34-year-old Christopher Ivan Gonzalez. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting arrest, resisting an officer by means of force or violence, and disorderly conduct.

Bail was set at $1 million. The investigation was ongoing.
